It is an animated movie presented in theaters in the 2002 by Blue Sky
Studios, directed by Chris Wedge and Carlos Saldanha.
The story begins in a time where humans still hunted and lived in
tribes, sharing the world with gigantic and fierce creatures. In was the ice
age and animals headed to their place to hibernate until a warmer time came.
But, the main character called Many a lonely mammoth goes on the opposite
direction just because he wanted. When he was finally alone, he finds a stinky
and annoying sloth called Sith, that was escaping from two angry prehistoric rhinos.
As he had no option, he let him go with him for a while, until they find a baby
human, and Sith had the necessity of giving it back.
As they began a new and unwanted adventure they faced all kind of
trouble, from a Sable tooth tiger to a bunch of angry dodos. Unexpectedly, the
sable tooth tiger called Diego, became their ally and friend, and he changed so
much that he faced his former leader into a live or death fight.
Having surpassed all trouble, they finally find the tribe of the baby
that had just started to walk when he sees his dad and make a run for a hug. As
the mammoth was no threat and men were not going to harm the saviors of a kid,
they gave a necklace as a prove of their friendship, and then it becomes a
goodbye.
Personally, this movie was a tremendous positive shock when I saw it as
a kid. Just the message of belonging somewhere is really important for a kid’s
life, and adding doing the right things just because it should be done that
way, gives a little push into the right path and I began to consider the
decisions I made.
